There are great benefits to enjoying a little one-on-one training. In fact, a large percentage of our time on Okinawa has been in the form of private instruction.
Private lessons accelerate your progress, deepen your knowledge and help us to better communicate during your regular classes by sharing some time focused on your particular needs and objectives.
Private lessons also are a big help in keeping students motivated and focused. Students who attend private lessons on a regular basis invariably improve at an accelerated rate.
How Often? Some students attend private or semi-private lessons every week, some once a month, others take a lesson as needed. Think about what you would like to focus on and talk to us.
What For? Private lessons may be helpful for preparing for advancement, if you have missed a lot of time and want to brush up on things, or if you want to learn something that may not be part of your regular classes. The topics of private instruction have reflected the varied interests of our student body.
Here are some of the topics that people have requested for private instruction:
accelerated self-defense weapons techniques and kata empty-hand kata (either Shorin-ryu karate or Motobu Udundi) fitness improvement- personal training ukemi (falls and rolls) tuidi Zen meditation Okinawan dance sword spiritual aspects of martial arts heavy bag training improving kicks etiquette for the Dojo ground work kumite (sparring) philosophy and strategies of Motobu Udundi weapon (knife, gun, other) disarms
Some people simply ask us to select a topic that needs improvement. Whatever works for you. Fees for Kodokai students are $20 per half hour for Kimberly, $30.00 per half hour for sensei. Bring a partner and split the costs!
For more information and for scheduling speak to Kimberly.
