Weapons training is available for karate students in certain cases. Weapons are also part of Motobu Udundi training.
Skilled use of the simple stick can make all the difference whether you are harassed by a dog while on a walk or stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire. It's easier to defend yourself with a weapon than without- if you know how to use it.
Of course, you don't carry weapons around with you but there are weapons everywhere! In a life-threatening situation anything can be used- a screwdriver, book, umbrella or anything else that you can pick up.
