The Kodokai Dojo is a family owned school. It is not a franchise with a school in every town, nor is it run as a hobby- we are full-time martial artists and have been for many years. Our students come from all over Rhode Island, Southern Massachusetts and Eastern Connecticut. Kodokai means "Old Path Society" and reflects our confidence in the value of true old martial arts (known as Ko-ryu) and our disinterest in commercal trends and sport-oriented martial arts.
We have been in the same location for eleven years and our head instructor has taught martial arts in this town for thirty years.
Our quality, consistency and commitment has made us a school people trust and are comfortable in joining.
We never use payment contracts to lock people into training with us. People stay with us because they enjoy quality, value and substance. Many of our students have been with us for eight, ten or even more years. While many people begin in other schools, many eventually find the Kodokai and make it the last school they'll ever need.
